Coffee Lover
We sat at the table, our usual spot,
You were complaining again that your drink was too hot.
I watched as your lips gently kiss the rim of the mug,
I smile, you ask what? I say nothing and just simply shrug.
These coffee dates we’ve been having for so many years,
We’ve enjoyed our drinks with both laughter and tears.
There is something special about this place,
where no matter what’s going on I always feel safe.
Maybe it’s not the shop, the spot or the coffee?
Maybe it’s in the person who’s sat opposite me.
It’s clear to me now it’s all in her face.
She is my usual spot, she is my special place.
