Coffee arrived in Cuba in the 18th century, brought by French colonists fleeing the revolution in Haiti. The first plantations were established in the Baracoa region, in the province of Guantánamo1. Thanks to the island’s warm and fertile climate, coffee soon became a thriving crop.
